Influencer Q&A with Zoe Raissakis from @wildblend

When we found out that Zoe Raissakis from @wildblend was launching a raw donut ebook we had to hear more. In todays Q&A we chat to Zoe about her health and wellness journey, her top secret tips to nailing a food shot and, of course, donuts.

Tell us a bit about your background and how you came about starting @wildblend

I started blogging because I wanted to share my passion for healthy recipes and food photography with the world. Since I learned how to start a blog, I’ve learned so many things and met so many amazing people, in such a short time. The best part is, I get to be an advocate for healthy living, which makes me super happy. Wildblend aims to empower people, especially women like myself, to take their health and happiness into their own hands. I’m super passionate about sisterhood and want to show women that there is more to health and fitness than ‘under eating’ and ‘overtraining’!

What’s your philosophy when it comes to health and wellness?

Wildblend’s mission is to inspire people to live an active, happy and healthy lifestyle, and to eat wild unpackaged natural foods to nourish their bodies and their souls. My recipes are all focused on fresh seasonal ingredients, and celebrating unprocessed, healthy whole foods. I believe in a holistic approach to health. You can´t just be healthy in one place – there has to be a balance in all aspects of your life. That´s why Wildblend’s motto is eat wild – train wild – live wild!

Your food shots are amazing! Can you share with us some of your top tips for nailing the shot?

Number one would be get the light right. Daylight usually works best but avoid taking photos under direct sunlight. I like shooting near a window with lighting reflectors, which you can buy on amazon or simply make yourself with some Styrofoam boards. Number two is keep the background simple. A simple napkin, cutting board, wood table or marble slab beneath your dish will add a little bit of texture and keep the focus on your food. And lastly, I think it´s very important to discover your own style; find what works for you and own it because the only thing in this world that is unique is you, so get on that!

Tell us more about your clean treats eBook (sounds delicious!). What can we expect to find in it?

‘Eat Wild’ is a collection of dairy-free, grain-free and refined sugar-free clean treat recipes, which will satisfy your sweet tooth without sabotaging your health goals. All recipes are Paleo and Vegan-friendly and made with whole food ingredients. The eBook is free and you can download it on www.wildblend.co

Where do you get your recipe inspiration?

I seek my inspiration from all sorts of sources; anything that allows me to think about textures, colours and flavour combinations. I´m also very inspired by challenges – solving problems gets me excited. My sister is a celiac and I love to cook for her and put a healthy spin on her favourite recipes. And lastly, traveling is also very important for culinary inspiration. Ideas for new dishes evolve from places I´ve been to, may it be a weekend in Melbourne or a few months in Asia.

Where can we find you on your days off?

I’m a nature child so most likely on the beach, in the mountains or somewhere in the countryside. I love rock climbing, camping, hiking and anything outdoorsy. My partner and I pack up and leave the city buzz whenever we get a chance.

We love following your journey, what can we expect to see on @wildblend over the next year?

I’m working on a Raw Vegan Donut eBook, which I can’t wait to share with everyone. The donut recipes are no-bake, and free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar. I’ve come up with a heap of different flavours, such as turmeric, chocolate peppermint and even a detox charcoal donut recipe. You’ll surely love these small bite-sized protein treats because they satisfy those annoying 3pm cravings. Apart from the eBook, I’m also working on a makeover of wildblend.co. The new beautiful website will hopefully launch by the end of the year.
